Walking with Winnie

Postby Mark Susol » Thu Jul 16, 2009 10:05 am

i've recently come across a website of interest, and it seems like a UDBB sentimental type story.

http://www.walkingwithwinnie.com

i'll be helping her make the next leg to Madera tomorrow although i am being compensated. if you feel you can donate to her cause then please use her website to do so. maybe you want to pay for her fare to Madera.

I know if things don't improve soon I might be making a similar trek with Talladega to Oregon or somewhere.

What a great story, and a great reason for the Walk. As a mustang owner (I have two of them) I really appreciate what she is saying about them. My Libby is like Winnie - doesn't spook at much of anything (although water crossings don't bother her), and has the keenest senses of any horse I have ever seen. When we are on the trail and she stops and her ears come up - it is GUARANTEED there is something there....even though it may take a while for it to appear.

Libby has some other challenges under saddle, but she is the sweetest thing and we love her to pieces.

Mark - Thanks SO much for posting this!
I have two Mustangs, both from different areas of Nevada. Woodrow and Honesty are very much like Winnie.
Ann is certainly an inspiration, especially to those of us in the "way over 50" crowd. And, how cool that she and Winnie will end up in Paradise...

Ok, I saw it on the news.

first, why isn't she riding?

second, why hasn't she taken up any offers for trailering?

third, what is the rest of her family doing while she's walking across the country to her new home?

Sounds like a fab way to spend the summer. Wish I had the time to go along. ("Most American's are in a hurry...")

I met Winnie and Ann yesterday as i trailered them to Madera. Winnie complemented me on the nice hay i provided which was grown here on our farm. if i could i would just keep driving all the way to CA to help them out.

Are you a Winnie fan? Please join her fanclub and help support her journey.

Cool! I just sent Ann an e-mail as I see she is close to a holistic veterinary chiropractor I have used in the past. I'll let you guys know if my referral helps find out what's up with Winnie. What a great story this is in the making, and I'd be privileged to be a part of it.

Thanks for helping Winnie on her travels, Mark!

I will be joining the Winnie Fan Club. I am very lucky to be caring for a Mustang. Levi is a wonderful horse and a perfect Schoolmaster. It is an honor to be part of the life of this horse who embodies so much of the history of The American West.

(Not to mention that he is talented, sweet, smart and...can a horse be witty? !)
